How to Align Your Nutrition With Your Moon Sign
We all know our Sun sign, or star sign, as they call it outside the United States, and often put too much emphasis on it. Yes, your Sun sign is important as it relates to your identity and core life force energy. But when we are talking about the body, specifically how you nourish through diet and lifestyle, the placement you should be looking at is your Moon sign. For example, I am a Libra Sun, and my Moon is in Sagittarius. I might express my Libra energy more outward, but my internal needs are seen through the lens of Sagittarius.
If everyone knew more about their Moon sign, we would all be able to navigate the daily moods and bodily demands that arise. That is because your Moon sign dictates those aspects of yourself, including how you want to be nurtured and cared for, your body’s nutritional needs, and how you process your emotions. All the things that significantly impact your daily life here on Earth.
When I teach my Astrology for Health and Wellness course, my students are often surprised by just how much emphasis I give to the Moon over their Sun sign. So let’s dive into it...
Every body is different, and so is the way to nourish it.
You find out how by looking at your Moon.
The Moon and Your Body
In astrology, the Moon changes signs every two and a half days, creating an opportunity for those born in the same Sun sign season to have a diverse cosmic blueprint. Looking at the combination of your Sun and Moon signs can provide a more accurate picture of what YOUR BODY needs, rather than a generalized recommendation.
In the field of Nutrition, we know that generalized diets do not work for everyone because each body responds differently to nutrients. (I hold a Master’s degree in Nutrition, so promise this is backed by science too) This is because we each have our own genetic response to our diet. It’s called Nutrigenomics. Now, to figure out yours, you could undergo genetic testing OR look at your Moon sign.
The Moon is absorptive, nutritional, and feminine. It is the most receptive part of yourself. It follows a rhythmic cycle, as seen in the phases of the Moon, which not only impacts Earth but also our emotions. The same influence is found in your body systems as well, specifically the ones ruled by the Moon, which are:
•Digestion, Nutrition, and Mucus Membranes
•Cycles and fluctuations of the body
•Emotions and habits
•White fluids of the body: serums, lymph, milk, mucus, and chyme
•All fluid-containing organs: stomach, uterus, breasts, gall bladder, eyeball, placenta, and pericardium
•Female functions: lactation, ovulation, female hormones, and fertility
In this post, we will primarily focus on Nutrition, but if you want to learn more about the others, book an Astro-Wellness session with me.
What Happens When You Don’t Properly Nourish Your Moon?
In many ancient cultures, from which most modern medicine is derived, they focus on the balance within the body. Disease or symptoms arise when something within the body is out of balance. For example, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acne is associated with too much heat in the body. They would assess the physical symptoms and, using foods or herbs, dispel the excess heat, reducing or eliminating acne.
This is one example of ailments that are associated with an out-of-balance Moon. Other common ailments include:
•Digestive issues or disorders
•Fluid congestion, cysts, and blisters
•Allergic conditions
•Emotional “mood” swings
•Women’s menstrual cycles and fertility issues
If these are things you experience, it can point to a Moon that is not getting properly nourished.
How to Feed and Love Your Moon
The first and most important thing to do is feed yourself using nutritional tips for your Moon sign and element. Each sign has specific recommendations. For example, my Sagittarius Moon thrives on a low-acidic diet that includes a mix of greens and lean meats to fuel its fire. Someone with a Virgo Moon, on the other hand, does best with a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, as meat tends to be harder on their digestive tract.

In addition, you can also apply general Moon boosting foods that are rich in potassium and B2/Riboflavin, probiotics, and herbs that are associated with the Moon, such as Anise, Ashwagandha, Blue Lotus, Clary Sage, Chamomile, Milk Thistle, Milky Oats, Mugwort, Ginger, and Reishi.
I also like to wear gemstones associated with the Moon, such as moonstone and pearl. Oh, and the metal silver.
